What we collect
On this website, almost nothing. The site has no forms and no accounts. We use Vercel Analytics to count page visits and to record when someone presses a WhatsApp or Telegram button. It records which button, which film style was selected and which language the site was in. It does not record your name, contact details or anything that identifies you, and it uses no cookies.
The site stores two small preferences on your device: the language you choose (in a cookie that lasts one year, so the site opens in that language next time) and your chosen film style (in your browser's storage). Neither identifies you.
When you contact us, on WhatsApp, Telegram, email, Instagram or TikTok, we receive whatever you send: usually your name, your phone number or username, and details about the film you want. To make your film, you'll then send us photographs and stories about you and the people in it.
Why we collect it
We use what you send us for one purpose: to talk to you about your film and to make it. That's the legal basis — we need it to provide the service you've asked for.
We use website analytics because we have a legitimate interest in knowing whether the site works and how people find us.
We don't sell your information, and we don't send marketing messages.
Photos of other people. A film is usually about people besides you — a partner, parents, children, friends. Please only send us photos of people who you'd expect to be comfortable with it. We treat their photos with the same care as yours, including photos of children.
Where it's stored
To make your film we use these services, which store and process your material on our behalf:
- WhatsApp (Meta) and Telegram, for our conversations with you, and Instagram (Meta) and TikTok if you message us there
- Zoho Mail, for email
- AI image and video tools — Higgsfield and OpenAI (ChatGPT) — to turn your photos into characters and scenes. We have switched off any setting that would let these services use your material to train their models.
- Frame.io (Adobe), to store and organise your material while we work on your film
- Vercel, which hosts this website and its analytics
Some of these companies store data outside the UK. Where that happens, the transfer is protected by the safeguards UK data protection law requires.
How long we keep it
We delete your photos, your stories and your finished film one month after we deliver it. That includes our chats and emails with you and the material held in the services above. Download and keep your film — after that month, we won't have a copy.
If you'd like anything deleted sooner, just ask.
Who else sees it
Only our team, and only to make your film. The services in the section above handle your material on our instructions and aren't permitted to use it for their own purposes.
We won't share your photos or your film publicly — on our social media, for example — unless you've said yes.
Your rights
Under UK data protection law you can ask us to:
- show you what we hold about you
- correct anything that's wrong
- delete it
- stop using it, or limit how we use it
- give you a copy in a format you can take elsewhere
Contact us at the address below. We'll respond within one month, and you don't have to give a reason.
If you're unhappy with how we've handled your information, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.
